The Chair
2025.12.01 – 2025.12.14

On this occasion, I attempt to bring together some forceful encounters within the gravitational field of my locality, as they are figurated through questions and images, fragments of manuscripts and long-awaited sculptures, and, of course, poetry. These are the things that resurface infinitely in my mind as residue of a much longer conversation, affinity, and imagination that have opened to a widening joy. This, as Alejandra says, is our attempt at a coherence that is against the world. This is perhaps the unfolding of a natural evolution from a year of tea gatherings, only now borrowing a new ritual.

Nicolás Colón is the founding director of Climate Control, a contemporary art gallery in San Francisco. His artistic practice, whether intimate or public, looks for new worlds within our everyday relationships; Yiming Clara is an artist based between Beijing and Berkeley. She is interested in how modes of seeing and being are constructed and how their supposed solidity can be unsettled; Hyungtae Kim is a PhD candidate in English at UC Berkeley and a Research Fellow at Ortuzar Projects. He writes about hesitation and Black art; Shannon Kim is an undergraduate student studying Political Economy with a concentration in financialization's implications in arts and culture; Emmanuel Roch is a master's student at École Universitaire de Recherche ArTeC in Paris and has a background in philosophy; Alejandra Perez Rotondo is a PhD candidate in sociocultural anthropology at UC Berkeley. She writes about the prophetic and institutions in Ethiopia; Samuel Wildman is an artist based in the Bay Area.
